Southern Cross Grains is the grain export arm of the Costa Group.

Applying the same philosophy of the wider group, Southern Cross Grains provides consistent first grade product with outstanding customer service to exceed wherever possible the overall needs of our end consumers.

Products

Southern Cross Grains is a global exporter, supplying a wide range of products throughout Asia, Middle East, USA, Europe and Africa. A large percentage of products handled are ‘niche products’, including Faba Beans for canning, Safflower, Wheat, Barley, Sorghum and Vetch (for the bird seed industry), Oats (for the Seed and Race Horse industry), Peas (for Sprouting), Lentils, Chick Peas, Broad Beans, Mung Beans, Adzuki Beans (for human consumption) just to name a few.

Our grain can be ‘machine dressed’ or ‘farmers dressed’, loaded in bags or bulk, and containerised in 20ft or 40ft containers.

Southern Cross Grains owns its own modern grain cleaning and loading facility, which enables stringent quality control and on time dispatch of goods for all shipments. Our grain mill is also used for contract grading and packing of containers and domestic seed.

To compliment the export market, Southern Cross Grains also deals in cereals and pulses for the domestic market. Be it Oats for milling or peas for the stockfeed industry Southern Cross Grains have got it covered.

Crisping Potatoes

A large and important part of our export business are the potatoes for the worldwide crisping market. Southern Cross Grains exports washed or brushed potatoes, loaded in bins or bulk, containerised and shipped throughout South East and North Asia for crisping.

To further enhance the service we provide our customers, the Costa Group has set up a joint venture potato washing and grading facility located at Atherton in Queensland’s far North called Cosrock. This facility washes and grades locally grown potatoes from the Atherton Tablelands for export during July – November each year.

Southern Cross Grains has a large number of growers that undertake contracts on products each year to ensure continuity of supply to our important customers. These growers are spread throughout country Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
